Our Week in a Nutshell

**Wednesday -- We took time to let RyAnn, Brock and Braxton adjust to the time change. We ventured out to Target with all five children. I have to admit it was a zoo trying to get all five kids in the car, 4 that are in carseats. Caleb had a game that evening and we all enjoyed watching him play.

**Thursday -- This was our day to go to the Wild Animal Park. It took so long for us to get ready since we were packing lunches for the day and making sure everyone had toys, sunblock, strollers, etc. Everyone was excited since this was our first trip to the Wild Animal Park. Overall, we had a good time and even squeezed in some shopping at the outlet stores on our way back home (okay -- the outlets were a few exits out of the way, but we were so close). Caleb was pretty patient with two little boys wanting to follow him around constantly. We did rearrange the carseats in the car with the babies in the very back with Caleb and Brock and Josiah in the middle. This seemed the best arrangement for everyone. Caleb did great making sure the babies had their pacifiers.

**Friday -- In the morning, we played at home and got ready to go to the beach after lunch. Caleb was so glad to see the ocean again. I don't see how he can stand the cold water. Brock and Josiah enjoyed playing in the sand and Braxton and Levi enjoyed being held and relaxing in their bouncer seats. Sometimes, I wish my backyard was the ocean.

**Saturday -- Caleb had a baseball game. RyAnn, Brock, and Braxton decided to have a relaxing morning at the house while we went to the ball game. After the little ones took naps, we enjoyed a low key late afternoon and evening at home letting the boys play in the backyard.

**Sunday -- We all took Caleb to baseball practice which allowed Brock and Josiah to run around outside. Sunday evening we managed to make it to church with all five boys. We arrived late but made it. After church, RyAnn needed to run into Target, so I dropped her off and drove through Wendy's with the boys. While in line, my temperature light came on saying that my van was too hot. I picked up RyAnn and then we had to wait in the parking lot for Kerry to come take us in shifts back to the house. What a way for them to end their visit!

**Monday -- Today, Levi and I took RyAnn, Brock and Braxton to the airport while Caleb and Josiah stayed with Daddy since there was no room in the car. They made it home safely and life returns back to normal around her for at least a few days.

Caleb's 7th Birthday

A lot has gone on this past week. It will take me several post to update on all of our happenings. The first was Caleb's birthday. I picked RyAnn, Brock, and Braxton up at the airport around lunch time and then brought them back to the house to surprise Caleb. He was surprised alright, but seemed to take it in stride. Caleb was ready to open presents and have cake and ice cream once they arrived. It definitely made his birthday seem more like a party. We then met one of his friends and his family at Chuck E. Cheese for dinner and some playtime. All the little ones had a blast and since it was on a weekday, it wasn't too crowded. I think Caleb enjoyed his 7th birthday.

Happy 7th Birthday, Caleb!!

Caleb turned seven at 2:12am this morning. Where has the time gone? It has been so much fun watching him grow over these past 7 years.

A couple of days ago, Caleb was talking to Levi and mentioned that he understood that Levi loved Mommy very much just like he used to when he was a baby. I teased him for not loving me anymore, but went on to assure him that I understood what he was saying -- that he was growing up and didn't need me like Levi does anymore. He mentioned that we should have a Mommy/Caleb day. When I asked him what he wanted to do, he suggested going to IHOP. Levi was allowed to go since he is still a baby. This morning I woke Caleb up early (before Daddy was supposed to go to work) and we went for a birthday breakfast. It was so nice and calm having some special time with him while Levi slept. We arrived home to find Daddy and Josiah still sleeping.

I can hardly wait to see his face this afternoon when RyAnn, Brock, and Braxton walk through the door. It is going to be so much fun!

Daddy Pics

What a face!

The traditional blanket pose

Sweet baby!

This was one of the first pics we took and Levi just didn't want to be still. I may try him in the outfit again sometime this week to see if we can get a little less movement from his arms.

Levi turned six weeks old this past Wednesday. I really wanted to get his picture taken like I did for Caleb and Josiah but didn't want to go to the all the trouble with three children at a studio. So, I asked Kerry if he would give it a try and if I didn't like them, I'd take him somewhere. I have to admit, Kerry did a really good job. Thanks, Honey!

The Best News of the Day!

The past few days haven't been the greatest. I've been pretty tired which always leads to me feeling extra emotional. That it turn leads to me complaining in my mind alot about my husband (and I'm sure to him too) and not being as patient with Caleb and Josiah. My mom and sister always get to hear about it as we talk everyday. I think they realized I was pretty near the end of my rope which leads to tears for a couple of days until I'm not feeling as tired. I sometimes think it's my body's way of saying it's time to rest, you've pushed yourself too far. I need to learn to just stop and rest and not feel guilty about it.

Late this afternoon, my sister calls (we had already talked a couple of times that day) and comments that it seems like I hadn't had a very good day and that she had some good news to tell me. She goes on to tell me that she, Brock, and Braxton will be arriving on Tuesday to stay almost an entire week with us, just in time for Caleb's birthday! I am so excited! It was supposed to be a surprise, but I'm so glad she told me now. I'm already feeling better and can hardy wait to see them! We are still surprising the boys though. It was perfect timing. I can hardly wait to see how big Brock has gotten and for Braxton to get to know us all over again. They also get to meet Levi for the first time. What fun it will be with five little boys in our house! Thanks Ry, for making my day!

In the Dirt -- Levi's First Trip

Daddy didn't want Levi to miss out on sitting
on a dirt bike.

This past weekend, Levi took his first trip away from home, breaking Caleb and Josiah's records. Caleb made his first trip at 7 weeks, Josiah at 6 weeks, and now Levi at 5 weeks. Notice the pattern?

We have a ministry at our church called In the Dirt. It is for families that enjoy riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers along with camping. A very nice family allowed us to borrow their camper and our friends from our small group loaned us their expedition so we could pull the camper. We left Thursday at lunch time only to have to stop somewhere due to wind. Kerry was driving so I didn't pay close attention to where we were. We eventually made it to the desert that evening in time to have dinner and turn in for the night.

Caleb enjoyed all day Friday and Saturday riding dirt bikes graciously loaned by the same two families mentioned above. He even took a fall while jumping a ramp and scratched his arm up, but came up ready for more. Kerry was able to ride a little each day as well. Josiah had a blast playing outside and getting dirty. He also enjoyed playing with his friend Kendra. He even went poop in the potty for the very first time. Way to go! Levi loved the extra time that Mommy could sit and hold him. He did not complain one bit when we were driving and he was in his car seat. I enjoyed getting to read, visiting with friends, and having Kerry take care of almost everything since I don't have experience with anything related to the outdoors. I'm not sure this is my cup of tea, but knowing how much all of my boys loved the weekend, I guess I need to get used to it if I want to spend time with them as they continue to grow up.

Easter 2007: Part 1

Josiah at 20 months, the life of the party

Caleb at almost 7, always takes a great picture

Levi at 4 and 1/2 weeks, a bundle of sweetness

Easter this year was a little busier than last year. Kerry was at all 13 Easter services this year and we have an additional member of the family which means one more little one for Mommy to get ready for church. We decided that the boys and I would come for the 1:30pm service on Sunday. We came early to watch a friend get baptized, and then we had a picnic during the service outside. I wish I could say it was perfect weather, but it wasn't. We were wrapped in blankets by the end of the service (Daddy included). After the service, the boys had their egg hunt at church. Since Daddy was at church all day, we decided that in between services we could have the egg hunt there so Daddy could be a part of it. I think Kerry got some really good pictures but he was so exhausted today I have yet to see them. So, the pictures above are taken at home before church. I will post some of the others once I get them.

Choosing Daddy

I knew the day would come. I just wasn't expecting it so soon. But I know I should be thankful. Tonight, Josiah wanted Daddy to put him to sleep, not me. Wow! I'm in shock, even a little teary-eyed since this is such a monumental moment for us.

From the time Josiah was born, he enjoyed nursing to sleep. When he gave up nursing, he has always enjoyed snuggling up with Mommy every night except for the night that he stayed with Nana when Levi was born. Last night, we all squeezed in Caleb's bed and Caleb and Josiah were quickly asleep. This was the first time at night that he let Daddy even snuggle up next to him. Well, tonight I had all the boys in Josiah's bed. Kerry was at one of the church's many Easter services this year. When Daddy got home, Josiah was so excited to see Daddy that he didn't want Mommy and wanted Daddy to lay down with him in Caleb's bed. He was asleep in about 5 minutes. I'm glad he's bonding with Daddy more and more and I know he still needs me. He's growing up.

First Bath and Other News

Levi had his first official bath on Saturday night, March 31. Both Caleb and Josiah thought it was really great that Levi was getting a bath other than just a quick rinse off. Levi tolerated it. We borrowed the bath tub from friends since this is the one and only time we needed one so that we could document his bath with pictures.

We have had an extremely busy week, at least it was for me. We took a trip to the doctor on Tuesday for Josiah and then x-rays to check his foot. He had fallen on Monday night and was limping and crying when he tried to walk on his big right toe. Nothing was broken but he did limp for a couple of days. We also had small group one night, friends over another night, and a couple of others brought the boys and I lunch this week. Caleb also had baseball and Kidquest this week on top of trying to start school back up. It's been a challenge getting school started back up with everything that has been going on. This week looks pretty busy as well but then things should slow down for a little while after Easter. Yeah!
