Sick with the Flu

As I sit here typing this entry, I have been sick with the flu for five full days, six if you count Saturday when I thought it was just allergies. Let me just say, it hasn't been fun and it still isn't. I went to the doctor in Longview (we're in Gladewater, TX) on Monday after getting a high fever on Sunday afternoon. They did the flu swab and sure enough, it's the flu. The tough thing is there isn't much you can take when you're pregnant. Tylenol does not do much for a high fever or horrible sore throat. I thought the Benadryl would help me sleep, but I've been up almost all night for the past two nights coughing. I'm trying to wait until my body can't stay awake any longer and hopefully I'll fall right to sleep without three hours of coughing. Kerry has helped as much as he can when he's here. He does very well getting our meals and playing with the boys when he can. And Granny has been great to keep our clothes clean, homemade banana pudding made, and apple juice in stock. I'm so ready to feel better. I know the boys are ready for a mom who's not whispering at them and laying in the recliner during the day just trying to make sure they stay in one piece. The flu is no fun.

Downtown San Antonio

Anytime we take a trip to San Antonio, we enjoy walking by the Alamo and strolling along the Riverwalk. We went this past Saturday, the one day it was pretty cool while we were in San Antonio. Although I was cold pretty much the entire time, it didn't seem to phase the boys. We decided this time that we should actually go inside the Alamo. I think the boys favorite part was seeing the canons and the fish. This was also the first time Josiah and Levi had been to downtown San Antonio. Caleb has been several times that I almost forgot that Josiah and Levi had never been. As we were walking along the Riverwalk, we started thinking that it was getting a little warmer outside and that we could handle eating outside. As soon as we sat down, we were cold. Once again, it didn't phase the boys. They loved sitting outside and watching the ducks and pigeons. It was worth sitting in the cold.

Life on the Road

Levi is demonstrating his climbing skills.

Caleb likes trying tricks on his bicycle

Josiah really mastered riding his bike this week.

We have now been on the road for six days. Not exactly, but we've been in the camper for that amount of time. I was starting to become unsure if this was really going to work. Fortunately, it hasn't been too bad. I'm still in the process of adjusting to life in an rv; like where the best place to put everything, how to keep the bottoms of biscuits and cookies from burning in the oven, and the best sleeping arrangements. I'm sure we will develop a good system over the next few weeks. I will admit that I think I would be going crazy if we didn't have the slide out to make the living quarters larger.

This week we've been in San Antonio, Texas at Northridge Park Baptist Church. It has been a wonderful set up this week. The boys loved riding their bicycles in the parking lot. The church is located right next to a park complete with a playground. And the best of all for Josiah was the baseball field just steps from the rv. They played baseball everyday and Josiah would sit outside and watch the baseball practices going on. The pastor and his family made us feel so welcome along with the members of the church. We were even invited to participate in a birthday celebration. The warm welcome we received made us like San Antonio even better than we did before. Thanks for a great week!

Five + One = Six

Once upon a time, there was a boy...

Who met this girl.

The two fell and love and soon were joined for life.

Almost two years later, a baby was born, creating a family of three.

Five years later, another baby arrived, turning them into a family of four.

Nineteen and a half months later, a wonderful surprise was added to this family, now a family of five.

And now this family will soon be complete, becoming a family of six, when baby #4 is added to the mix.

Yes, we're having a baby! Our fourth precious one is due sometime at the beginnning of September. We are all so excited, boys included, and look forward to meeting this little one.
