Tagged: 6 Random Things

I was tagged to list six random things about myself. So, here it goes.

1. I am a very, very picky eater. I don't like pizza, spaghetti, fish, vegetables - except corn, and I don't like things mixed together. There is more that I don't like than I do like.

2. I used to hang Christmas lights with my Dad every year until either I was married or was pregnant with Caleb (only a year difference) and wasn't allowed to climb on the ladder. Very fun memories.

3. I love watching home movies, especially when I convince my Dad to set up the old version with the screen and all and see our family when I was a little girl.

4. I actually miss California. I'm surprised it grew on me so much over the 2 and a half years we were there. It was so gradual that I didn't realize I would miss it so much until I was gone. Plus, my dearest friend lives there.

5. I love the tradition of dying Easter eggs. I only missed one or two years after I was married until Caleb was born. Even during college, my mom would boil the eggs and I would dye them. I even hunted Easter eggs in our backyard during high school. My sister was mortified that I still thought that was fun. And the eggs must be dyed on the Saturday night before Easter or it just doesn't make sense to me.

6. I dream of becoming a runner and being very fit. All that's standing in my way now is a double jogging stroller. If only it was that easy, I'd go buy a stroller yesterday.

Random Things

* Josiah fell asleep in the box again the following night. He probably would have continued except there were clothes in it last night.

* I got bangs. I'm still learning how to fix them. Still trying to decide if I like them. I wanted a change just like I do after each baby is born. Just never been this drastic. Caleb is smart. He says the bangs make me look younger.

* While trying to fix my new hairstyle yesterday, Levi fell asleep on the floor in my room. I thought he might have slipped outside quietly. I searched through the entire house before coming back to my room to find him sound asleep on the floor. Poor baby!

*Caleb is starting to learn Algebra and I'm teaching him. He's only in third grade. I didn't learn this stuff until at least 7th grade.

*What does it mean when your husband says, "I'll have to get used to it." in regards to your haircut? It didn't bother me though. I know I surprised him. He didn't even know I was getting my haircut. He likes surprises, and he likes constant change.

* Levi's learning to pee-pee in the potty. We started this a few weeks ago. No big pressure, just getting used to the process so that when his body is ready it will be a smooth transition. We've done this with the other two boys as well.

* Silas rolled over the other day. Can't decide whether to document it since he hasn't done it again. I tend to wait until it happens twice in one day to count it.

* I'm really tired. If only I would go to sleep as soon as everyone else was asleep I know I wouldn't feel as tired. I always get this burst of energy once the house is quiet.

* The humidity is so thick here we had to close our windows. California spoiled me.

*Our ice maker stopped working a few weeks before Silas was born. Then it started working again. Then it stopped working for almost 2 months. Now today it is working again. I have no idea why.

*Only 43 more days until the boys and I are in Texas again!!

Josiah in the Box

I bought this box yesterday at the store with the purpose of putting clothes in it. Josiah found a different use for it. He decided he wanted to sleep in it tonight. He asked if he could sleep in it all night long. I told him he could sleep in it until I was ready for bed and then I would put him in his bed. Once he fell asleep, I took a couple of pictures and then Kerry took him out of the box. He just looked so uncomfortable, but I'm sure he will talk all about sleeping in the box tomorrow morning.

Silas' Two Month Check-Up

Silas had his two month check up today. Never mind that we had to wait an hour with four boys to be seen. Never mind that after one hour of waiting all of the boys were bouncing off the walls and Kerry and I were not in the best of spirits. Never mind that our appointment was at 11:00 and we didn't get out of there until after 1:00 (and I didn't bring snacks). The most important thing is that Silas is healthy and growing well. Here is the 2 month comparison of all of the boys. I am a little surprised that he weighed the least out of all of the boys. I thought he would have been right up there with Josiah. He was given two vaccines and is now taking a very nice nap.

At two months, Silas is as precious as he's always been. He lets me know when he's hungry or tired or needs a diaper change and settles down as soon as those needs are met. He smiles and coos when someone smiles and talks to him. His legs are getting very strong, so I'm thinking he will be an early crawler like his brothers. I don't know how often he wakes up to eat at night since he's right next to me. He still prefers Mommy which is very normal for our boys. I will enjoy these days because pretty soon he will be three wanting to go wherever Daddy goes.

Recycled and Reusable Costumes

Getting four children dressed and out the door in their costumes on a very exciting night can be a little time consuming. The boys enjoyed their evening and that was the most important part. We went to the church up the street, The Church in the Farms, for their Trunk or Treat. Our neighbors behind us go to the church and invited us to come. Levi was a little shy at first but once he saw that everyone was giving out candy, he got down and walked from car to car. Josiah improved on saying thank you loud enough for people to hear him. Caleb got extra candy from one lady, because he said thank you without being reminded. Silas enjoyed being carried around and even got to spend some time in Daddy's arms.

After the Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat, we dropped by the Bonar's house. The boys had a blast once again playing with all of the other kids there. Kerry and I even had a chance to visit with people. The boys wanted to stay longer, but we got them loaded in the car around 10:00pm. By the time we got home, it was almost 11:00pm. Josiah, Levi, and Caleb fell asleep in the car. Silas was wide awake when we got home and was ready to talk. He was up for about an hour and then we were all sound asleep.

Caleb wanted to be a skateboarder. It would not have been my first choice but at least he can wear the clothes again. I have no idea why he thinks this kind of style is cool, but he does.

Josiah wanted to be Buzz Lightyear. We still had Caleb's costume from a couple of years ago. It was a little big, but I couldn't bring myself to buy another Buzz Lightyear costume. He was excited about it just the same.

Levi got to be a monkey which was Josiah's costume two years ago. It was cute to see his face when we put the costume on him.

Silas decided to be a horse which Josiah wore when he was a baby and looked adorable.
