Josiah Turns 4

This past Sunday, Josiah turned four years old! Josiah had very specific ideas about what his day would look like. For breakfast, he wanted chocolate chip muffins. Then for lunch, he wanted to have chicken nuggets in a roll. He waited patiently for Daddy to get home from church so that he could open his gifts and have cake. I think he is a little like me, because when he opened his first gift, he cried. To make it even better, he cried when he opened his second gift. He always has a vivid picture in his mind of what something should look like and those two weren't what he was imagining. He loves them now, but definitely something I will remember. After presents and cake, Daddy had to go to beach baptisms. I kept the boys home since Silas had been very fussy due to teething and I didn't want to go to Chuck E. Cheese all sandy. Josiah enjoyed the afternoon playing with his gifts and then we took him to Chuck E. Cheese. He had a great time, and I think he really enjoyed his special day.

Wildlife Sanctuary with Brock

We took Brock and RyAnn to the Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday morning. Even though it's small, the boys had fun looking at all the animals. Granddad has been with us before, but it was Kerry's first time to visit as well. Afterwards, the boys enjoyed more time in the pool before lunch.

Saturday afternoon, we had to take them all back to the airport for their 6 o'clock flight. The boys and I enjoyed dinner at the airport with them before heading to church. As I was sitting in the parents' room (where I enjoy church each Saturday evening with my little ones) I received a text from my sister saying that there was a delay due to mechanical problems. Soon after, I received another text saying that now there was a weather delay. After church, I headed home with the boys. Not long after that, my sister called asking if we could come get them since there flight had been cancelled until the next morning. Kerry left immediately to go get them. I feel awful that they had to sit so long in the airport only to have it get cancelled. They were up early the next morning and are back home safe and sound. I'm so glad they were able to come and can't wait to see them again at the end of August!

At the Beach with Family

Friday after rest time, we took the boys to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center and the beach. It started pouring down rain as soon as we arrived at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center so we only got to see what was inside. We ate our picnic dinner nearby until the rain stopped. Then, we headed to the beach. They had a blast. I think we would have stayed longer if the mosquitoes and other biting bugs had stayed away. It's always a joy to watch the boys having a good time.

Around the House with Brock

Friday morning the boys were up and ready to play. Caleb, Josiah, and Levi were ready to show Brock around the outside of our house. They played with outside toys, caught lizards, and swam quite a bit. They played so hard even Josiah took some time to rest after lunch.

Birthday Surprise

On Thursday, my Dad and I celebrated our birthdays. We were to pick my Dad up at the airport that evening just in time for dinner. I made sure the boys were actually clean and dressed in something decent since we would be going to dinner. As we were arriving at the airport, my husband texts me asking me if we were picking my Dad up inside the airport or curbside. Random I thought. We had to wait a few minutes for him to arrive. Levi was so excited to see Granddad that he set the alarms off in the do not enter area. Oh well. There was no barricade, just a sign and a security guard down a whole lot further. Once everyone hugged, my Dad got out his little video camera saying something about sending a video to Nana. While the boys were talking to the camera, here comes RyAnn (my sister) and Brock (one of my nephews). They had surprised me for my birthday! I couldn't believe they were actually here! We were definitely loud. I'm sure there were lots of stares. I was concerned about not having room for everyone in the car, but I was told that my husband was on his way with his car and that they had been planning this for months. We went to dinner and then home for birthday cake, presents, and swimming. I'm still in shock that they were able to surprise me!

11 Years

(Me and Kerry in December of 1997. We were so young -- 21 and 27)

On Saturday, Kerry and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. Since we love spending our time as a family, Kerry took the day off, and we spent it all together. We started the day with breakfast at IHOP (a favorite for the boys). Then we headed to Cape Canaveral in attempts to see the space shuttle launch. We ended up at a place called Jetty Park. The launch was delayed but we enjoyed the day up there anyway. Kerry and Caleb got to fish. We played in the sand. Silas loved the water a little too much. I even got to read a little. Even though it takes a lot of effort to get four boys ready along with the stuff needed for an entire day out, it was relaxing to escape from our normal, everyday life for a few hours. We came back sandy, sticky, and exhausted but refreshed with the quality time spent together.

(Cruise ships went right by where we were. It was contagious just watching them. It made Kerry and I want to sign the family up for one right then.)

Future Tatoo Artist

So the other day I assumed Levi was playing in the playroom with his brothers. I was in the living room and thought that everything was put away out of his reach. I didn't take into account that he would climb onto the antique roll top desk and get large markers and draw all over himself. This is life with Levi as a 2 year old. He's always full of surprises.

Silas at 10 Months

I can not believe that Silas is already 10 months old. He is definitely a joy to have in our family. Currently, Silas loves to pull up on things -- couches, chairs, and even doors. He's at such a fun curious age and can discover the smallest items left on the floor by his brothers. He still will not sit up. He prefers to sit on his knees. None of the other boys have done this, so I do find it a little unusual. He screams if I try to "encourage" him sit down. I think he just doesn't like to sit still. He will eat some homemade solid baby foods like pears, carrots, apples, and sweet potatoes, but he really prefers to handle things himself like crackers or fruit puffs. He reminds me of Josiah when it comes to eating who refused to be fed by spoon. He loves playing in the water. He is now in cloth diapers 100% of the time. I just couldn't resist the cow print diaper when I saw it. He's still nursing and has yet to figure out a sippy cup but thinks they are fun toys. I'm in no rush. He is definitely a mommy's boy. Some would probably say he is high maintenance. He just knows what he wants and has no problem expressing his needs. As long as his needs are being met (mommy holding him), he is a happy baby. I can't believe he will be 1 year old in 2 months! Time has gone by way too fast!
