The Promised Fun

The Promised Fun - A Trip to the Beach

The boys were thrilled to take some time to stop at the beach, Josiah especially. We can't believe he got in the water. It was ice cold in my opinion when my toes accidentally got touched by the water. Caleb, who is normally in the water with Josiah, was even wearing a sweatshirt. It was a fun way to end our day. We hadn't really done anything just the six of us in awhile, so it was nice. It's always nice seeing the boys smile while doing something fun.

Marine Graduation

Joshua, Caleb, Josiah, Levi, and Silas

On Friday, March 11, Kerry, the boys, and I were privileged to get to watch our nephew Joshua graduate as a marine. It was a fun time connecting with family and an honor to have a family member protecting our country.

I wasn't too sure how the boys would do, but fortunately the graduation was outside. I can't say that they sat perfectly still, but overall, they did great. They were troopers being in the bleachers for over 2 and 1/2 hours, and even better yet when we didn't get to lunch at our typical lunchtime. They never complained about it. The only complaint I got was from Josiah, because I had told him we would do something fun after the graduation. It was a challenge at times to wait for what he considered "fun."

Happy 4th Birthday, Levi!

Dear Levi,
You are four years old today! What an amazing year it has been! Shortly after turning three, you got hurt and had to take a trip to the emergency for a few stitches. Thankfully, you recovered quickly and were outside playing the next day. We also confirmed that your VSD had closed but that you had a PFO. We were so thankful that the cardiologist said that it wasn't serious at all, that it was very common. Your speech has improved greatly this year as you are learning to read. Seeing the sounds on paper makes it easier for you to know how to say the words.

Your heart still melts when you see a baby. You love your brothers, especially Silas. I loved that you wanted to share your birthday with him. It would have been fun if you two had been funds. I would have enjoyed that a lot. You turned into a little boy this year, no more toddler in you. You love choosing what clothes you will wear and riding your bicycle without training wheels.

I am so excited to see what this year holds for you - hopefully calmer than last, no trips to the er or heart issues. I pray that your heart for Jesus continues to grow. Just today you told me that I was going to die and that I would be in Heaven with God and Jesus. You are so right, one day I will, but I pray I will get to raise you boys first. One more year until you are an official kindergartner. Wow! I can't believe it. I'm so thankful that God brought you into our lives. You are our sweet, lovable Levi, our bonus baby, our only California boy. Mommy loves you!

Levi can hardly wait to start catching creatures with Caleb.

Levi is thrilled with his new car seat. No more 5-point harness for him!

*And yes, Levi, you picked out the clothes you wanted to wear on your birthday. It would not have been your Mommy's choice, but you were happy.

Sweet Words

Levi is turning four on Monday. He is so excited that his special day of the year has almost arrived. As he and I were talking about him turning four, he said some of the sweetest words. He told me that he wished Silas (his two year old brother) was turning four with him. How many brothers would want to celebrate their birthdays together and wish to be the same age? It just melted my heart.

These two brothers are the sweetest things to watch. When talking to one another during play, they are engrossed in their conversation. Their pretend play is amazing. It is so cute to hear them pretend that one of them is a baby or a puppy. Their voices change pitch like when adults talk to babies or young children. It is just so cute. These two also can make the biggest messes, especially this past week. During school with Caleb and Josiah, Silas and Levi at times will escape to their room for up to an hour at a time (I do grow concerned when all is quiet and check on them from time to time). At the end of those play times, I find toys dumped all over their room as they have been busy playing. I can handle the messes when I see how well they play together and love each other. It's going to be fun watching their friendship grow!
